A Better Idea

Good things can happen when you ask others.

Last week I had an out-of-the-box idea for an issue of the magazine.

To confirm I was on track, I ran my thought past two people whose judgment I valued. As expected, they affirmed my idea.

But they went beyond that. They each suggested I expand my idea to something that would take considerably more work, but also carry considerably more punch.

For a day or so, I reflected on one of the suggestions, which had the kernel of a great idea. I expanded that concept into an assignment for a future issue.

I hope the writer not only delivers, but also that he finds a way to expand it into something even better.
