Take advantage of today’s opportunities.
A few weeks ago I was scrambling. Multiple deadlines forced me to spend long hours at the keyboard.
Last week, the season changed. I could bask in the luxury of a more relaxed pace. I had time to plan the next issue and sketch the framework of the one after that.
I had time to catch up on my correspondence and time to review manuscripts I’d told people I’d examine when I had time.
I had time to read, reflect, and equip myself for the next season.
A new season of deadlines will come. So now I’m preparing, working ahead, making plans.
I’m sure I’ll have to change those plans. But having them helps me prepare for when my writing season changes.
