Tired and Discouraged

Don’t be surprised by a post-conference dip.

I got home late last night from the writers conference after a long drive through heavy rain.

The past few days I’d gotten little sleep, my days filled with intense interactions. The discussions were wonderful, but so draining.

My three-hour drive home didn’t bring renewal. Neither did my first good night’s sleep in days. I awoke to a mood that matched the dismal weather. Too tired to work, I felt defeated, as though my time at the conference had accomplished nothing.

I wrote off the day for a time of rest.

So I wrote off the day for a time of rest. I refrained from major editing work or operating heavy machinery.

Tomorrow I hope I’ll feel better. But for now, I’ll take at least the remainder of the day off.
